Mukutmanipur Dam
Introduction
Mukutmanipur Dam is located in Khatra Mahukumar,
Bankura district, in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Mukutmanipur Dam is also known by different
names. Some call it Kangsavati Dam, and some call it Gorabari Dam. But no
matter what the name is, the dam is the same. Again, Mukutmanipur Dam is called
the Queen of Bankura. Mukutmanipur Dam is considered the second-largest dam in
India.
Mukutmanipur Dam The dam has been constructed at
the junction of Kansai and Kumari. The river coming out after the dam is called
the Kansavati River. Mukutmanipur Dam is the second-longest earthen dam in
India (11.27 km). It is the only dam designated as a 'Dam of National
Importance' in West Bengal by the Central Water Commission, Government of
India.
The length of the road over Mukutmanipur Dam is
11 kilometres (6.8 mi). In the middle is a small mound called Pareshnath Pahar,
where several idols of Jain and Hindu deities are placed in the open air. These
idols were recovered during excavations during the construction of the dam.
There is a deer park right next to the embankment of Pareshnath Pahar. There
are also many smaller parks. Rows of shops lined up under the embankment.

Mukutmanipur Fair
If you are coming to see
the Mukutmanipur Dam, then don't miss the Mukutmanipur Mela. Here, the fair
starts in December and lasts until the end of January.
Up and down the banks
of the Mukutmanipur Dam, you will find small shops lined up. In this shop or
stall, you will find various types of wood and clay products. Here you will
find wooden idols of various deities, wooden pens, wooden tribal dances,
agricultural work, etc. You will also find various types of home decoration
items. You will also find here children's toys and clothing for adults and
children. A variety of unfamiliar materials are also available.
Local Food
There is not much
local food here. But if you come here, you will get Bengali's favourite food,
fish rice and meat rice. Again, you will see many Jhalmuri shops along the road
above Mukutmanipur Dam. But a lot of Jhalmuri is sold here. Jhalmuri is very delicious
here. Also here, you will find good teas from Darjeeling, Chaomin, Jilipi, etc.
Rice Powder Stall
This rice powder
stall has been open since 2022. Here you will find all the rice powder items
like pithe puli, Rice powder in all kinds of pies, sal pata mora meat pitha,
etc.
Sal leaf-wrapped meat
pitha is the most popular at this stall. If you come here, don't forget to eat
meat pita.
Hotel
Here you will find
all types of hotels. There are many hotels on the bank of Mukutmanipur Dam, and
some are a little further away. You will find hotels with low to high prices
here. Here, you can get a house or hotel for 500 rupees. It's up to you what
kind of hotel you want to stay at. You can book Mukutmanipur Dam hotels online
from home. Almost all hotels are booked here from December to January. If you
are coming between these two months, check if the hotel is available or not.

Kangsabati Dam

Pareshnath Shiv Mandir
Pareshnath Shiv Mandir is an open temple of
Mahadev as well as a holy place for local people. During the construction of
the dam, the idol was found by digging the earth, and it is considered to be
evidence of Jain culture. You may see many stone idols there, and people strongly
believe that some of the idols were Jain deities. Many people come here to
celebrate the Maha Shivratri’ festival. You will get the best view of the
mesmerising sunset from here. The sun begins to sink slowly beneath the
horizon. When the fiery ball comes down half-way into the water, its reflection
in the dam makes it look complete and creates a brilliant view. The clouds glow
with an orange hue, and tweeting birds fly their nests across the sky. Make a

Deer Park
Family outings are ideal in Bonpukuria Deer Park as well.
The sounds of nature may be heard here, and you can be sure that the deer will approach to greet you while gazing in amazement.
There is a road leading to Bonpukuria that the trees have covered with an arch-like construction.
Unusual green sunrays create a spectacular painting of light and shadow on the road as they filter through the tree canopy.

Noadihi Sunset Point
Noadihi is a place after Baroghutu. To reach
this place, you have to follow the road towards Peerless Resort, then take a
diversion to Baroghutu. After crossing Baroghutu, you will reach Noadihi. The
West Bengal government recently made an accommodation that is still under
construction. This is a place of ultimate silence to recharge your soul. You
will hear the chirps of several birds during the beautiful sunset experience.

Ambikanagar Temple, situated in Ambikanagar
